Family picture in front of Cinderella Castle |
Our first full day in the Disney parks started early. We got up around 7:00am, got ready and went
down to the Boardwalk to have breakfast at the bakery. It was pretty good. We had a breakfast waffle cone and a
croissant sandwich. Both came with fruit
cups so Ellie ate those and a Banana. We
got on the bus around 8:15am and headed to the Magic Kingdom. It was a pretty quiet ride to the park. Ellie met some new friends. (she was a hit on this trip. She made new friends everywhere.) We got to the park and walked down Main
Street and first headed toward Fantasyland.
This land has been completely redone since the last time we were here
and it was really cool. We walked
through the Beauty and the Beast area, passed the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and
then stopped at Under the Sea, the Little Mermaid ride. There was no line so we went through. This was really cool. It was a dark ride about the story of the
Little Mermaid. The audio-animatronics
were pretty cool. Ellie enjoyed this one
similarly to how she liked Living with the Land. After we rode that, there was a meet and
great with Ariel next door. Riley, my
niece, had a goal to meet ALL of the princesses. This was the first of many. It went well.
She really liked meeting Ariel.
Ellie was ok with it. She was a
little shy. After that half of our group
went to Downtown Disney because Riley was going to get a princess makeover at
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Lisa, Ellie
and I stayed in the park for a little while longer. We walked back through the older part of
Fantasyland and rode It’s a Small World.
This was a hit. Ellie loved it. She was pointing at all of the little people
and clapping the whole way through. It
was great to watch her enjoy the ride so much.
After Small World, we snaked our way back to the exit of the park. On the way, we stopped at Casey’s and got a
hot dog snack. We got back to the hotel
and put Ellie down for a nap. After
about 20 minutes, all three of us were asleep.
We woke up after an hour or so, and got ready to go back to
the park. We got there at about 3:00pm,
which is when the parade is going on. As
a generally rule, I really don’t like parades.
Not kidding, really don’t like them.
There were 2 things about this parade that were different about this
parade. First of all, it was a pretty
cool parade. It had all of the popular
characters, new and old. They were on
really cool interactive floats. And they
had an unbelievable steam-punk fire-breathing dragon based on Maleficent from
Sleeping Beauty. That’s the first reason. The second reason is Ellie loved it. Oh my goodness. She was inthralled with the parade. I put her on my shoulders and she held on to
my hat, and she clapped and laughed and waved and beat on my head the whole
parade. It was adorable. Lisa got some really cute pictures of
her. So that was the parade. We then had a Fast Pass for Dumbo. Some people may know that I have some history
with Dumbo. I rode Dumbo with my dad on
my first trip to Disney World (1984), and I did not have the best experience. I have not ridden Dumbo since. With that being said, Dumbo is part of the
renovated Fantasyland. They moved Dumbo
and added a second ride to spread out the crowd (as it was one of the busiest
rides in Fantasyland). I was thoroughly
impressed with how easy it was to get through the queue, although we did have a
Fast Pass. We decided that I would go
with Ellie and Lisa would take pictures.
It was fun, nothing exciting though.
Ellie was ok with it. She didn’t
get upset, but she wasn’t super excited either.

It took me until I had my own kid to go on this ride. #childhoodmemories |

Olaf was Ellie's gift from the Tooth Fairy |
After that, we met the rest of our group at Peter Pan for
our next Fast Pass. They arrived with
Riley……(cough, cough)……I mean, Queen Elsa.
Holy Cow! That is quite the
makeover they give little girls. I have
never seen so much glitter on one little girl in my life. Needless to say, it was all over everyone by
the end of the day. We were a little
early for Peter Pan, so we rode Small World again. Everyone enjoyed it, but we found that Crosby
liked it. He was looking around at
everything. And Ellie LOVED it. She was even more excited the second time
going through it. She was clapping and
putting her arms in the air. And she was
Oh’ing and Ah’ing, and she started saying “Oh yeah!” during it. It was so cute. We rode Peter Pan after Small World, and it
was fun as well. Riley like it a
lot. We then walked around a little bit
and ended up in Adventureland trying to go on Pirates or Jungle Cruise. We got on neither. We ended up riding the Magic Carpets of
Aladdin. We had never done this before. It is basically the same as Dumbo, but it
holds more people per carpet, and there are camels that spit so you might get
wet. We did not know this part. We had fun avoiding the camels until the end
and were lined up to avoid them when the ride was almost over and everyone was
at the same level, the camel spit right before us and missed us. It was quite fun. As we were riding the Magic Carpets, we found
out the my parents were eating Dole Whips without us. Darn it.
The Halloween party was starting after that, so we left the Magic
Kingdom and headed back to the hotel. We
ate dinner at the Big River Brewery on the Boardwalk. It was ok.
Nothing special. I probably
wouldn’t go back. Then, it was bed
time. Tomorrow, more Magic…..(Kingdom).
